| Summer EXCEL Book Distribution - 2023 |

| The Summer EXCEL Library Media Specialist will order books to give away in May and then distribute them to students during the last week of summer school. Students will come to the library with their reading class and select the books that they would like to add to their home library. Many studies have shown that students who have a home library have increased academic success, increased vocabulary and attention spans, and, ultimately, increased job attainment. |
| The mission of the Summer EXCEL Book Distribution program is to provide at least two free books to each student who uses the school library during Summer EXCEL. Typically, about 210 students visit the library during Summer EXCEL. By providing these students with free, high-interest books, we are increasing the literature that students have access to in the summer. Shopping for the books that we would give away for this program would likely take about 5 hours. |
