The Stoughton Area Resource Team, Inc.
(START) provides a safety net for those in crisis. Recently, a 30-year old single father of two struggled to find work, to pay for daycare for his children and to secure a home; so much time was spent homeless and hopeless.

Rebuild and restore theater marquee - 2015 |
Amount Funded: $2,200.00 |
The purpose of the project is to renovate the historic marquee in front of the Village Players Theater, to make it structurally safe for passersby, visibly attractive and true to the historic nature of Main Street. |
This project will renovate and rebuild the theater marquee which extends over the sidewalk. The marquee is a historical feature of the building and a unique element of the building. It is also a unique element of the look on our historic main street. It adds to the appearance of the building and is the only one of its kind in Stoughton.
The marquee is in need of structural repair. The wood portion is showing signs of rot and the steel portions need inspection, cleaning and painting. In its current state it has the potential to become a hazard to the public passing under it. The visual elements such as the red and white fringe edge and the Village Players logo at the top will be replaced. |
Improving Restroom Facilities for the Public - 2016 |
Amount Funded: $2,500.00 |
This project will renovate and expand the small, outdated lady’s restroom in the lobby. For women, at present, we have a single bathroom and a handicapped-accessible bathroom. Our plan will add two or three additional toilets. This new facility will reduce waiting lines for use.
Currently the area is used for makeup for the actors and storage for cleaning materials. The project will require tear-out of the cabinets, countertop, sink and associated plumbing, construction and installation of a door in the west wall and blocking off the opening in the south wall. Partitions will separate the toilets.
Holes will be drilled in the concrete floor, and connections made to the system in the basement. The plumber will install the toilets and sink. Electrical construction requires new wiring, lights, switches and outlets. The walls and ceiling drywall will be repaired and painted. |
