The Stoughton Area Resource Team, Inc. (START) provides a safety net for those in crisis. Recently, a 30-year old single father of two struggled to find work, to pay for daycare for his children and to secure a home; so much time was spent homeless and hopeless.

Committees of Stoughton Area Foundation

The Stoughton Area Community Foundation supports several committees comprised of both SACF Board members and other volunteer community members.

Marketing Committee: The Marketing Committee is charged with spreading the word about the Foundation to the community. They typically meet several times throughout the year. The committee is very involved in the image of the SACF, focusing on communications with potential donors via the website, mailings, news media, personal appearances, etc.

Long Range Planning Committee: The Long Range Planning Committee functions to establish goals for the Foundation, including financial, logistical, and legal aspects of running a foundation. The Long Range Planning Committee works closely with the Marketing Committee.

Finance Committee: The Finance Committee is responsible for the handling of all monies coming in and going out, as well as the investing of our funds to insure growth and availability of grant and scholarship monies. The committee meets with the investment representative who provides monthly statements of assets, and provides advice and information on investment strategies.

Grants Committee: The Grants Committee typically will meet at annually to review any grant applications received, determine eligibility, and make recommendations to the SACF Board for grant distribution.

Professional Committee: The Professional Committee informs the Board about current laws and regulations related to charitable giving, and works on educating area business owners, attorneys, CPAs, financial planners and other professionals about SACF, so that their clients and customers can learn how they are able to give to the Foundation and what their money can mean to the community.

Scholarship Committee: The Scholarship Committee reviews candidates for the Paul Sundby Scholarship submitted by the Stoughton High School and approves those who meet the required criteria.

Nominating Committee: The Nominating committee meets to select candidates to fill various positions on the Board of Directors. The committee selects candidates to ensure the Board of Directors will be composed of a balance of both experienced and younger community and business leaders.
