At the Stoughton Community Area Foundation’s Annual Meeting, two incumbent Directors, Amy Elsner and Vince Blegen, were unanimously re-elected to a term on the Board of Directors.
Elected to fill vacant terms were Theresa Ganshert, Glenn McNaughton, and Brian Shimon. They bring experience and qualifications with a willingness to participate effectively in ensuring the assets of the SACF continue to grow and help the Stoughton area community thrive.
The 2010 grant recipients each thanked the Board and gave details of how the money is being used to help their organization serve residents of the Stoughton area.
Vince Blegen, the SACF Board treasurer, gave a summary of the financial statement including current investments. 2010 brought the death of longtime SACF supporter Paul Sundby. His estate left a donation to be used for college scholarships for Stoughton High School graduates. The SACF now holds over $1,000,000 in charitable donations, a portion of which is distributed each year through grants and scholarships.
The new updated website was shown by Mary McNaughton, chair of the Marketing Committee. If you would like more information about the SACF, the website can be found at stoughtonfoundation.org.
The following officers have been elected: David Houser, President, Nancy Keeney, Vice President, Jessica Knutson, Secretary and Vince Blegen, Treasurer.
The Foundation’s eleven-member volunteer Board of Trustees reflects a variety of community interests and involvement. They oversee the investment of donor funds and the distribution of grants to worthy causes in accordance with donors’ intentions. Directors can serve two consecutive three-year terms of office. They serve without compensation and are selected for their judgment, integrity, and understanding of philanthropic needs. Other Directors currently on the Board are Kay Davis, Mark McCoy, and Mary McNaughton.
